Meet Me In London

Georgia Toffolo

Meet me in London by Georgia Toffolo is a light-hearted piece of Chick-lit that takes place in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea which is my happy place when I am in London.  Victoria is a wannabe designer who is selling her clothes online and bartending on the side to make ends meet.  She is fresh off a heartbreak from a cheating ex-boyfriend.  Oliver is heir to a department store and is too busy to date despite the pressure from his mother to find a nice woman and settle down.

As you will have guessed, Oliver tries to appease his well-meaning mother by saying that he will bring his fiancé to the new store opening in Chelsea.  Thus, Oliver asks the barmaid to be his fiancé.  It’s a fairytale set in modern day but it’s fun anyway.  And for me, the best part is seeing the various city landmarks.  In this case, my favorite is the Chelsea Physic Garden which I stumbled across during one of my morning walks and dragged my husband to one rainy afternoon.  Our visit was delightful as this is one of the world’s oldest gardens with flowers, herbs and trees.

This book also introduces Victoria’s friends in this novel so I suspect there will be other novels bring these character’s stories to life.  Meet Me In London is a good read for a rainy day or if you need to be swept into a modern fairytale for a few hours.
