If you want a quick read that will make you laugh out loud, I encourage you to read True South, by Elizabeth George. Elizabeth and I used to work together, and she is smart, gracious and funny. True South is a small book at just 89 pages, but it packs a punch! True South is a parody of corporate culture and its words ring true (pun intended).
Elizabeth puts on paper what employees really think about corporate life covering topics such as reorganizations, meeting and email overload, death by power point and trendy initiatives such as employee happiness programs. If you are a corporate leader, be prepared to laugh at yourself. As an employee, you’ll find yourself nodding along in agreement on almost every page.
Kudos to Elizabeth for calling it like it is. I think True South just might make the perfect gift for any new CEO. Bravo, Elizabeth. Bravo!
